I have been trying to wrap my head around what makes a good cook deeply recently. I realized that cooks need a few fundamentals or cooking foundation blocks to base your dishes on. Most recipes in the world can be achieved using these just changing flavor profiles and ingredients. Cooking came much easier once I had these skills under my belt. So nowadays i look over recipes I see with wacky techniques and use their ideas to make better fundamental dishes.
